This time we'll take a look at a research project.
Researchers at Michigan State University have created a fully transparent solar concentrator, which could turn any window or sheet of glass (like the smartphone's screen) into a photovoltaic solar cell. The solution is a so called transparent luminescent solar concentrator (TLSC). Although the project is still at a research stage and the efficiency of TLSC is only around 1%, the project staff believes that a 5% efficiency should be possible.
